One of the two QRA fighters in Monte Real, armed with two live sidewinder missiles and ready to intercept 24/7. Just another calm night at the portuguese F-16 wonderland...

Straight from a Hollywood movie. A ex-military hijacked the aircraft, after pretending to be a photographer shooting parachute jumps from inside the airplane. The aircraft took off from LPEV (Évora) to LPCS (Tires) with 2 parachuters, and right after, the hijacker diverted the aircraft using a pistol. When the aircraft was landing at Tires, the pilot managed to take the weapon from the terrorist, but he went for the controls and tried to crash the airplane. The parachuters jumped at very low altitude and the aircraft landed with the engine shut down, with a strugle between the pilot and the hijacker, skidded into a ditch breaking the left wing and left again to the grass breaking the landing gear. The pilot jumped from the aircraft as soon as it hit the ground and the hijacker committed suicide (you can see him underneath the left wing). It also seems that the hijacker's car exploded in Évora. Handheld, raining a lot, and almost dark.

Is there a better way to return home after spending the weekend in an aviation safety forum in central Portugal than flying in formation for some sunset pictures?... In the back there's Tagus River and it's last two corners before reaching Lisbon, where it meets with the Atlantic Ocean.

Resting after another day of challenging flights at Hot Blade 2012 Exercise... a few hours earlier, I had the fantastic opportunity of flying in an insertion/extraction mission with four of these Austrian Bells, with some air-to-air shots in the mix. Thanks a lot guys, you rock!!

Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) with some 5 meters waves right behind and hitting the cliffs below the Merlin. I was onboard this SAREX and after we simulated a rescue with a navy ship we headed for this Cape and they dropped me here... after another hoisting operation they landed back in the cliff and picked me up for some high sea operation... an awesome flight!

The sun passing through the Husky's cabin gives the perfect touch to one of the last photos of this awesome air-to-air flight around Santarém and the Tagus River.

Fitted with passenger interior, this 4 hour flight between Lisbon Airport and Lajes Air Base was way more comfortable than some other flights that i've done in comercial aviation... the only downside was the engine sound in the cabin, but nothing that a pair of ear plugs couldn't fix!

During Iberian Spotters Meeting, in association between APEA & AIRE... Kinda funny: Portuguese and Spanish Spotters, photographing an aircraft belonging to a Spanish Group, but with Portuguese registration! Dedicated to our Spanish friends, thank you for coming to Lisbon!

The Russian Knights (Su-27) and the Swifts (MiG-29) perform an interesting formation flight at the 100th Anniversary Airshow of the Russian Air Force, with some dramatic clouds serving as background!
