Este avión británico es construido por la Hispano en Guadalajara, entregandose los primeros aviones en 1922, pasando inmediatamente a prestar servicio en Cuatro Vientos. Se suceden las entregas hasta totalizar entre 120 o 130 aparatos, que van equipando las diversas unidades. A principios de 1927 se crea el 1er. Grupo de Melilla. Continuan en servicio hasta el comienzo de la Guerra Civil en número de 40 aparatos, 18 de los cuales
quedan en la zona nacional prestando servicio en la Escuela de Transformación de El Copero, mientras que los aviones que quedaron en la zona republicana lo hacen en las bases de Alcalá y Los Alcázares.
