Tras un paseo por el Puente de Brooklyn y con una ya dibujada puesta de sol en el cielo Neoyorquino, estaba sentado en un banco admirando el Skyline de Manhattan cuando escuché un sonido de helicóptero de lo más característico. Cabe decir que justo en frente tenía el Helipuerto de Wall Street con un vaivén de helicópteros turísticos, y en un primer momento me pensé que el sonido provenía de algún veterano Bell 407 (muy utilizado para los Tours en Nueva York), pero aún así el sonido era diferente, más cortante y grabe. Finalmente, de detrás de unos árboles se asomó la fina silueta de un impresionante AC Super Cobra. En aquel momento no podía creermelo. Rápidamente saqué la cámara de la mochila y me puse a fotografiar como si no hubiera un mañana. Finalmente el Super Cobra se posó en el Helipuerto desprendiendo una gran cantidad de agua durante su descenso. Hay veces que pienso que es una lástima que todo esto sucediera estando a contraluz, pero luego veo el efecto del agua, el cielo naranja y la silueta inconfundible del Cobra y pienso que no quedó tan mal.

Fin de la secuencia. Después de esperar casi una hora y media, sin quitarle ojo al helicóptero, ví como aparecían en medio del paseo los dos pilotos del Cobra. Paseando a sus anchas, como si de un paseo en el Parque del Retiro se tratara, con sus trajes de color kaki y las manos vacías. Accedieron a las instalaciones, se hicieron una foto junto al aparato e iniciaron el protocolo de acceso al helicóptero y posterior arranque (unos 15 minutos en total). Finalmente alzó el vuelo y puso rumbo hacía vete tu a saber dónde. Suerte que aquella tarde me dió por llevar el trípode, pero nunca me imaginé que le iba a dar ese uso aquella tarde/noche. Y suerte, ya que una vez puesto el sol el helicóptero quedó totalmente negro, solamente me quedaba jugar con su silueta al paso de los barcos por su retaguardia.

Interior de la clase Voyager de Air France en el nuevo A380. Asientos cómodos, pantalla de entretenimiento a bordo con más pulgadas que caulquier otra clase "economy" y unas ventanas bastante grandes. Como detalle decir que el vuelo JFK-CDG fue plácido y sin apenas tener la sensación de estar viajando en avión, muy insonorizado.

Continuando con la secuencia/historia. Tras haber presenciado ese espectacular aterrizaje, y como os podéis imaginar, no dudé ni un segundo en cruzar el río para acercarme todo lo que pudiera al helicóptero (hay que decir que era la primera vez que veía en directo un AC Super Cobra). El helicóptero quedó estacionado en el parking nº8, justo en la esquina del dique (imagino que para no obstaculizar las operaciones de los helicópteros turísticos). Lamentablemente durante mi trayecto, perdí el rastro de los pilotos, no pude ver si habían salido de las instalaciones, si permanecían dentro del edificio, y eso me llevaba a preguntarme la gran incógnita: Se volvería a ir o pasaría la noche ahí? No obstante eso no me impidió estar a apenas unos metros de él y poder fotografiarlo mientras la cálida puesta de sol pintaba de amarillo su clásico gris militar.

Preciosa aproximación a la pista 04R de Kennedy, con una bonita vista de Manhattan a lo lejos.

Impresiona verlo, no me esperaba que estos "cacharros" fueran de esas dimensiones. El Enterprise fué el primer transbordador construido para la NASA pero nunca llego a salir al espacio ya que carecia de motores y de escudo termico, quedandose solo como vehiculo de pruebas. Tras el accidente del Challenger, se pensó en modificar/adaptar el Enterprise para sustituir al desintegrado Challenger, pero su adaptación era demasiado costosa y se decidió contruir el Endeavour.
Nota: aunque en el exif ponga que la foto fué tomada con un 50mm, esto no es así, el objetivo utilizado ha sido un Samyang 8mm fisheye.

Parece que hay bastante tráfico para despegar por la 04L de JFK, pero por suerte ya estamos cerca de cabecera.

Interior de esta Gran aerolínea "low cost" en la que como ya comenté servían un snack (patatas azules) con bebida gratuita y todas las pantallas con 41 canales y air show en cada asiento. Curioso detalle de las camisas de los pilotos en azul. La calidad es bastante baja, pero está hecha con una cámara compacta y en un descuido del piloto...estos americanos nunca sabes por dónde te van a salir...tratándose de un avión...(hay que jugar al despiste)

La antigua terminal de la TWA está recibiendo los últimos trabajos de remodelación para su próxima reapertura. En esta ocasión será utilizada por otra gran aerolínea, JetBlue, pero no tan grande como su antecesora.

El G-BEAK, Carmarthen Bay, casi listo para volar a Manchester. Hice la foto antes de embarcar hacia LHR en un 747-100, ambos modelos ya totalmente retirados. Claro, no éramos conscientes del interés que tendría,unos años más tarde,el haber podido ver y volar en estas joyas. Nos dirigiamos al gate 14 de la terminal de AA que tiene en el JFK. Se puede apreciar los dos B744 de BA. La temperatura exterior de ese dia era de -10ºc el sol engañaba.
