Perteneciente a la clase Essex, el portaaviones Intrepid fue comisionado en 1943, retirado tras la SGM y modernizado y vuelto al servicio activo en 1952 hasta su baja definitiva en 1974. Trasladado en 1982 al pier 86 en Manhattan a orillas del Hudson, acoge un muy interesante museo aeronaútico. Como se puede ver en la foto ha quedado un poco deslucido por la instalación de una carpa que acoge el transbordador espacial Enterprise (la que está en la popa), otra para la restauración y mantenimiento de aeronaves y una cafetería en la zona de popa

El G-BEAK, Carmarthen Bay, casi listo para volar a Manchester. Hice la foto antes de embarcar hacia LHR en un 747-100, ambos modelos ya totalmente retirados. Claro, no éramos conscientes del interés que tendría,unos años más tarde,el haber podido ver y volar en estas joyas.
