Un RA-5C Vigilante se prepara, entre nubes de vapor de la catapulta, para el despegue. Para ello pondrá los motores a plena potencia, a una señal encenderá la postcombustión, soltará frenos y la catapulta lo lanzará al aire. El ruido producido durante los lanzamientos hace imprescindible llevar auriculares protectores en los oidos a todo el que esté en la cubierta de vuelo.
