Boeing is beginning work this week of the refueling boom for the KC-46A in a new facility that the company has opened at Boeing Field in Seattle.
Boom assembly marks the program's shift to production from design activities.
According to Boeing, KC-46 program remains on track to deliver 18 combat ready tanker by 2017.
