Esta foto casi reúne el grueso de la aviación comercial británica de aquella época. Aviones casi míticos en la Europa de entonces, eran los restos en decadencia (aunque vendrían otros) de la era de los turboprops y del inicio de los reactores. El Vickers Viscount del centro era el mas antiguo y fue el primero y de mayor éxito de este tipo de aviones, pero les quedaba poco tiempo de vida. Los grandes reactores americanos ya eran operativos y mas aconomicos, e incluso el Comet IV, retrasado por sus tristes y dilatados antecedentes, estaba sentenciado.
