BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) — Belfast International Airport says a passenger plane has made a safe emergency landing after developing technical problems.
The airport says the plane landed at around 1130 GMT (6:30 a.m.) Tuesday.
The Thomas Cook Airbus A320 was bound from Belfast to Tenerife when it developed the unspecified problem.
It circled over Northern Ireland to use up fuel before landing, as fire engines and ambulances waited on the runway.
The airport says the plane will be inspected by fire officials before passengers are allowed to disembark.
Thomas Cook, one of Britain's biggest tour operators, confirmed it owns and operates the plane but gave no further details."
