Esta versión, también conocida como C-117, del inmortal DC-3 es la denominación que se le dió a un centenar de C-47j remotorizados por el fabricante para la US Navy. Nuevas alas, nuevo conjunto de cola, modificación del tren de aterrizaje y motores más potentes dieron paso a un avión que podríamos considerar nuevo. Aquí vemos a uno de ellos aparcado en lejanía en El Prat en una de los viajes que efectuaban con motivo de las entonces frecuentes visitas de los buques de la VI Flota al puerto de Barcelona.
